Have you ever wondered why our world isn’t filled with people like Elon Musk, Sam Harris, and Peter Theil? Or maybe, have you ever cared to realize why humanity is evolving at such a slow rate. Did you know that we humans have around 6000 thoughts per day, and yet we rarely work to make those world-changing ideas a reality? Well, the reason for all of this is because of the infamous mindset of complacency.

What is Complacency?

Complacency is excepting things as they are, it’s not going that one step further to either understand or complete a task. Compliance is what kills great ideas and productivity, it is what every successful person strives to eliminate. Do you think that if Peter Theil had complacency he would have built the life that he has now? Do you think that if Elon Musk had complacency he would have built space X and Tesla? No, they wouldn’t have, they chose not to accept things as they are and chose to change the world.

How can you prevent complacency?

To prevent complacency, you need to train yourself to not accept things as they are. Question things, don’t accept ignorance, don’t comply with the norm of society. The best advice that I can give you is to literally, reject complacency. If you find yourself complying with something that someone said, or complying with something that in your head doesn’t make sense, push yourself to question and seek understanding.

What will I gain?

The results are simple, you will be more knowledgeable because the more you question things the more interesting discussions you participate in. Your opinions will be well respected, and you will stand out in the flock of billions of humans. I can’t promise that if you eliminate complacency you’ll become the next Elon or Peter Thiel, but I assure you that your life will be better.

TL;DR

  • Complacency kills ideas
  • Complacency is a trait no inspiring entrepreneur should have
  • to eliminate complacency train yourself to not accept things as they are, and seek understanding.
  • Your life will be significantly better without compliance
